Our region boasts over 75% of NZ’s wine production with over 150 wine producers, all producing award winning wines including the world-renowned Sauvignon Blanc. With numerous cellar doors in the region you are spoiled for choice when it comes to tastings. 

Plan ahead or decide on the day, but either way the comprehensive digital wine trail map on the Wine Marlborough site will lead you in the right direction, including live open hours and onsite options at each one. There are several with world class winery restaurants, as well as those with food trucks or picnic spots where you can enjoy a relaxed lunch over a glass or two. 

Take a sober driver and self-drive, or if not then have one of the many experienced tour operators take you around. You can also visit several cellar doors by bike or E-bike hire, using safe off-road trails to get there.

Beer + Gin with a side of Chocolate

Craft beers, pizza and award winning gin are also on the tasting trail if you fancy them. 

Boomtown Brewing Company and Moa Brewery and Tap Room both offer the perfect outdoor spots to enjoy a good brew, casual food, and some Marlborough sunshine.  If you like the idea of an Italian style lunch menu then visit The Fancy Cow Brewery, Cellar Door and Restaurant on Rapaura Road.

Marlborough is also home to the award winning Roots Gin and Elemental Distillers.  Drop in to The Roots Gin Shack for gin tastings, seasonal cocktails and delicious food. You can find them in the Vines Village, along with a  collection of other stores, tastings and activities at The Vines Village, Rapaura Road.

While you are on the road, take a detour and get your chocolate fix at Makana Confections and Chocolate Factory on the corner of O’Dwyers Road,Rapaura. All their products are handmade using only the freshest natural ingredients, and there is always tastings on offer.
